Boroondara Youth Brass

Boroondara Brass supports the development of young players and actively supports new players entering the brass world. For this purpose, Boroondara Youth Brass was created in 2002 and registered as a competing Junior Band (Members under 19 years of age) with the VBL in 2003. Boroondara Youth Brass rehearses on Wednesday nights under the baton of Danny van Bergen, who also conducts the senior band.

In 2005 and 2007 Boroondara Youth Brass received the Merv Simpson Award for the most successful band in Victoria. This is a great achievement as the award given by the VBL covers bands in all Senior and Junior grades.

The Band consists primarily of beginner players, who are regularly supported by members of Boroondara Brass, especially at competition times when the younger members of Boroondara Brass play with and help the beginners. Members of Boroondara Youth Brass can be promoted to Boroondara Brass once they have achieved an appropriate performance level, but are invited to attend rehearsals to listen whenever they wish. Boroondara Youth Brass also perform at Community events, including Fairs in the City of Boroondara, and some members join with Boroondara Brass to perform at local events, such as Christmas Carols in the area.
