Boroondara Harmony Brass – Douglas Lewis

Doug Lewis began learning music at the age of seven, and has since learnt piano, oboe, bassoon, trombone, and others. But his brass playing began at eleven, when he went along to a brass band and tried out horn, baritone, and euphonium. Euphonium was the one that stuck, and he has been part of brass bands ever since.

Doug completed two degrees at the University of Melbourne: a Bachelor of Music (with Honours) on euphonium, and a Master of Music Performance/Teaching with a focus on band conducting. As a performer, he has played in brass and concert bands, orchestras, and for shows. He has also played as a soloist with a number of groups, and won the VBL State Championships solo euphonium section.

Doug teaches brass both privately and in schools in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, and has worked as a conductor for both school and community groups.

Doug has been a member of Boroondara Brass since 2010, playing with them at events around Australia and in New Zealand. He became the conductor of Boroondara Harmony Brass mid 2016.
